He studied art under Gao Jianfu, Li Xiongcai and Guang Shanyue, all of them famous masters of the Lingnan school. For more than 30 years he has been a professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Several solo-exhibitions have been held in China and abroad since 1982, for example in Canada; 1987, Taiwan; 1989, Singapore; 1991 and Beijing; 1994.
